Kiran Bedi discusses Pondicherry projects with ministers

An official press release from the Governor's office said the Union minister extended his support for greening of 65.5 km highway in Puducherry.

PUDUCHERRY: Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi called on Union minister of transport and shipping Nitin Gadkari, minister for tourism and culture Mahesh Sharma, and minister for agriculture and farmers welfare Radha Mohan Singh to discuss developmental projects for the Union Territory .

During the meeting with Gadkari on Monday, the Lt Governor discussed various measures to improve road safety and transport facilities in Puducherry which included automated vehicle testing facility and setting up of drivers training and research institute.

An official press release from the Governor’s office said the Union minister extended his support for greening of 65.5 km highway in Puducherry. Bedi also discussed the revival and improvement of ports in Puducherry and she reiterated the request of CM V. Narayanasamy to include Puducherry in the flagship programme Sagarmala, the release said.

During her meeting with the tourism minister, Bedi discussed options to place Puducherry in world tourism map. The release said the minister extended his support to various proposals including inclusion of the UT in Swadesh Darshan Scheme, developing five islands on Godavari river in Yanam for tourism, promoting science tourism and setting up of convention centre for art and culture.
Release of funds for the second phase work of fishing harbour in Karaikal was discussed with Radha Mohan Singh.
