Damage Caused by Heavy Rain in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- It rained heavily in North Phyongan Province and other parts of the DPRK from July 22 to 24.

Especially, the rainfall reached over 200 mm in Uiju, Kusong, Suphung, Chonma, Tongchang, Pakchon of North Phyongan Province and Pukchang and Kaechon of South Phyongan Province.

Human and material losses by landslide were reported from Tokryong area of Uiju County, North Phyongan Province, where ten were killed, four missed and fifty five injured. And 246 houses were completely or partially destroyed.

Railway was damaged in eight places, 760 meters in total, and roads in ten places together with two bridges.

The DPRK government takes due measures to reconstruct the disaster area and stabilize its people's livelihood. -0-
