RAWALPINDI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has said that the concerns of taxpayers and tax law partitions would be resolved by keeping in view the difficulties of filers as well as practitioners. While addressing a seminar organised by the Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) during Summer Camp 2016 at Murree, which was conducted PTBA Secretary General Abdul Qadoos Mughal, he said it was imperative to evolve a tax culture with an aim to enhance financial resources for socioeconomic development and welfare of the country. Tax law professionals from all over the country and PTBA office-bearers participated in the proceedings of Summer Camp 2016 in which learned sessions were conducted by the national experts and eminent scholars. The FBR chairman said that new taxation system would be evolved to improve the efficiency of FBR as well as to facilitate taxpayers. He also disclosed that research and marketing analyses cells would be established in FBR to resolve the issues in a proficient manner and streamlining the working procedure. He further narrated that the necessary groundwork had been completed and capable professionals would be hired from the market to improve the system. He also assured for elimination of SRO culture, which would be replaced with more appropriate methods to give concessions. The FBR chairman said that regular taxpayers should not be harassed and action could only be taken on solid evidences. He said the taxpayers deserve due pride and honour and their contributions for national exchequer must be acknowledged, adding that the process had already been initiated to eliminate corrupt practices in the management besides bringing behavioural changes in the officials. Khan responded to all the issues pointed out by the PTBA office-bearers during their deliberations and acknowledged the contributions of tax bar associations for meaningful participation and capacity building activities with regard to taxation. Earlier, Abdul Qadir Memon in his presentation briefed about the achievements of summer camps organised by PTBA. He also paid tributes for record revenue collection achievements of FBR in the history of Pakistan. The sales tax issues of manufactures of Sialkot city also highlighted on the occasion. Pakistan Tax Bar Association President Mohsin Nadeem and Lahore Bar Association President Ferhan Shahazad also spoke on the occasion.
