Express Scripts Inc. Announces 2% Rise In Q2 Profit

Express Scripts Inc. (ESRX) revealed a profit for its second quarter that rose from last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $998.7 million, or $1.57 per share. This was up from $979.1 million, or $1.44 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.57 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 0.9% to $25.22 billion. This was down from $25.45 billion last year.
