Shaji Pappan Returns

Midhun Manuel Thomas, whose upcoming movie Ann Mariya Kalippilanu will hit the screens soon, has announced a sequel to Aadu Oru Bheekarajeeviyanu.

It has been more than a year since Jayasurya-starrer Aadu Oru Bheekarajeeviyanu hit the screens. Though the film failed to become a super hit, when the DVDs were released, the same became one of the best-sellers of 2015. After a brief gap, its director Midhun Manuel Thomas is back in action with Sunny Wayne-starrer Ann Mariya Kalippilanu, which has Daivathirumakal-fame child artiste Sara Arjun in the title role.

As in his debut venture, this time too he has given a unique title for his film. Quizzed about it, Midhun says, “Ann Mariya is the name of the central character essayed by Sara Arjun. She is a cute, brilliant schoolgirl and the film takes a turn when she faces a trouble in life. At one point, she comes across a thug named Poompatta Gireesh. That is all I can tell you right now about the title and the story.”

Midhun adds that this film will be a feel-good entertainer. “Ann Mariya Kalippilanu will be a small, light-hearted film, which will entertain all.” Recently, his name became a hot topic among Facebook followers after his photo was shared with a statement — the only director who could make many fan followers even his debut film flopped. And he says, “My first directorial venture Aadu.. was built with a group of senseless characters. But when the songs and trailers got released, audience started expecting a different film and thus, it failed to reach the targeted audience. But the scene got completely changed when the DVDs reached the stores. It was then many people watched the film. I got many good comments from the viewers and interestingly, those who came up with the negative comments when the film was in theatres later changed their opinion. But I admit that a section of people dislikes Aadu...” He adds that a film should not be approached without prejudice. Midhun, who is currently busy with the post-production of Ann Mariya Kalippilanu, which is slated to hit the screen on August 5, is all set to come up with a sequel of Aadu... “Yes, I am planning a sequel and most probably, the title will be Aadu 2: Shaji Pappan. I will move to the pre-production once Ann Mariya… reaches the theatres."
