MUMBAI: A day after his 26/11 colleague died at a Virar farm, Caesar (11), was admitted to the animal hospital in Parel on Sunday due to depression. Caesar is the sole surviving canine among the four police dogs that helped detect bombs during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
The dog, who has arthritis, was brought to the Bombay Society for Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals (BSPCA) in an ambulance from Fizzah Farm in Virar where he stays.
Animal activist Fizzah Shah said that Caesar was sad since Tiger passed away. On Saturday, he refused to get up and walk. By night, he had high fever. “He is better and taking some food,” said Shah, who hoped to bring the canine back to the farm soon. Caesar had been running a fever of 105 degrees.
Three 26/11 heroes — Tiger , Max and Sultan — residing at the farm have passed away in last four months. “Caesar has seen all his buddies go away and has become sad and depressed. Though there are many dogs on my farm, he misses his buddies. The day Tiger died, he was inconsolable,” recalled Shah.
