Delhi police foiled today Protest March of Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) towards Prime Minister’s residence by using force and arresting about a dozen protestors including Er Rashid . It is worth to mention that Delhi police had given permission for the Sit-in at Jantar Mantar after denying the same in front of Parliament House, but strangely minutes before the proposed march it withdrew the permission and imposed strict restriction on Er Rashid. However, party decided to carry out march from Jammu Kashmir House Chankyapuri to Prime Minister’s house and dozens of human rights activists , students and people from various walks of life joined Er Rashid.The protestors were carrying ply cards and chanted slogan against State terrorism, Use of pellet guns, continuous killings in Kashmir and seeking resolution of Kashmir dispute by holding Plebiscite. The protestors started marching towards Prime Minister’s residence but heavy contingent of Delhi Police stooped their way by installing huge barricades.
However, protestors continued their march ignoring continuous warnings through public addressing system to call off the march and police used force to disperse the march and arrested more than a dozen protestors including ER Rashid and lodged in Mandir Marg Police station. Earlier speaking to media persons before his arrest Er Rashid said that by withdrawing permission , central govt has proved that it had got frustrated with the overwhelming response from various walks of life in New-Delhi who had gathered at Jantar Mantar to support the March.Er Rashid said “Let the people of India understand Kashmiris are not enemies of India but seeking right to self determination doesn’t mean that they should be killed with bullets and pellets. let the world community read down the lines that govt of India is afraid of listening to the peaceful voices including elected public representatives and it has nothing to offer Kashmiris and is thus playing blame game. World community must stress upon India and Pakistan to give up their futile slogans of integral part and jugular vein and realize that it is Kashmiris who are bleeding in every nook and corner of Kashmir at the hands of India security forces, as such there is no option but to resolve issue keeping in view the aspirations of people of Jammu & Kashmir” .
