Patna: In yet another case of a neta landing the ruling alliance in the soup, JD (U) MLA from Barhariya in Siwan district, Shyam Bahadur Singh, has been booked for allegedly grabbing a sugar mill and its land in Siwan. The MLA’s relatives have also been named in the FIR. However, ADG (law and order) Alok Raj clarified it was not a case of extortion.
“A case and a counter case were lodged in the Panchrukhi police station on Sunday evening in connection with a dispute over the sugar mill,” he said.
According to the FIR lodged by one Dr Vikram Singh, the legislator, his son Sanjay Singh, son-in-law and other associates are trying to usurp the sugar mill which belongs to him. Sources said the land and the mill are worth over Rs 20 lakh.
The MLA has accused the doctor of illegally grabbing the mill.
ADG (HQ) Sunil Kumar said the cases would be investigated and supervised by a senior officer and action taken accordingly. No arrests have been made so far.
MLA Singh has courted controversy in the past as well. A 2015 video recently went viral in which he was seen dancing with girls and making objectionable gestures. Earlier in 2012 too, he was caught on camera dancing with girls at a marriage function in Gopalganj district. After this video had gone viral, he had apologised.
