Telangana govt appoints VCs for three state universities
HYDERABAD: After delay of three years, the Telangana government finally issued government orders for appointment of regular vice-chancellors for three universities – Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University and Telangana University, on Monday morning.
According to sources, the government is in the process of declaring names of four more universities, including the oldest university in Telangana Osmania University and Kakatiya University by Monday evening.

Retired professor of Telugu department in Osmania University, SV Satyanarayana has been appointed as the VC for Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. Retired professor of computer science and engineering department in Osmania University A Venugopal Reddy has been appointed as the VC for Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. Subsequently, P Sambaiah, professor of public administration and human resource management (Retired), Kakatiya University has been appointed as the VC for Telangana University, Nizamabad.
The principal of Osmania Engineering College, S Ramachandram has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of OU. Retired professor K Seetharama Rao, professor of public administration and human resource management, Kakatiya University, Warangal is appointed as the VC of Dr BR Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad.
All the VCs have been appointed for a period of three years from the date of the appointment. However, the appointments are subject to the outcome of the Writ Petition pending in the High Court with regard to the appointment of VCs.
The appointment of VCs was made after the search committees recommended three names.
