CHANDIGARH: Hearing the issue related to alleged incidents of mass rapes near Murthal in Sonipat district during Jat stir in February, the Haryana government told the high court that as per the interview by mother of an alleged rape victim, she has claimed that they were returning from Naina Devi when the incident of rape had taken place.
Counsel for state government Lokesh Sinhal said that the police could track down two families that were travelling on the highway after visiting Naina Devi.
One of families did not have a daughter and in another case, the vehicle was burnt but no rape was reported.
Sinhal also submitted a status report before the HC in relation to the rape incidents, indicating that the investigation had hit a dead-end. Senior advocate Anupam Gupta, who is assisting the court as amicus curiae, however, strongly expressed his dissatisfaction on state's status report.
