Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed officials to conduct the Osmania University centenary celebrations on a grand scale in 2017. At a review meeting held at his camp office on Sunday, he told them to draw up plans for the celebration.
The Chief Minister hinted the university could get a vice-chancellor soon. He told officials that graduates at an earlier time used to mention ‘Osm’ on their name plates to indicate that they were from Osmania University which then was an institution of prominence. He noted that the university’s alumni included several prominent personalities in the country and abroad.
The Chief Minister asked Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, who is incharge of education portfolio, to draw up a comprehensive plan on how best to make the centenary eventful and what issues need to be sorted out before the commencement of celebrations. He asked officials to appoint a committee with famous personalities like TRS MP Dr. K Kesava Rao, an alumni of the university.
