35-year-old dies in road accident in Mumbai

A 35-year-old man died and four others were injured after the XUV they were travelling in rammed a divider, flipped and fell on the other side of the road.

MUMBAI: A 35-year-old man died and four others were injured after the XUV they were travelling in rammed a divider, flipped and fell on the other side of the road. The deceased, Lalit Mithalal Jain, a Mulund resident, along with his friends was returning home after partying at Lower Parel. The incdent took place at around 2.15am on Sunday.
The Chunabhatti police have registered a case of accidental death case.
Four injured were Kunal Shah, 30, Jigisha Jain, Avinash Shingh, 30, and Jeenal Shah, 30, all Mulund residents. “They had gone to Lower Parel to celebrate the birthday party of Shah’s relative. Jain was driving the car and all of sudden when they reached near Priyadarshani bus stop, near Ahuja bridge, he lost the control and rammed it into the divider. The car flipped and crashed on the other side of the road. Some locals saw the accident, reached the spot and with the help of other motorists the occupants of the car were lifted from the car which had turned turtle,” said a police source. Police team was deployed near the accident spot to clear the traffic since the car was in the middle of the road.
Jain had sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the nearby Sion Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead before admission. Others, who sustained minor injuries, were given first aid treatment and dischraged. A perliminary medical examination showed that Jain was not drunk. “The occupants of the car are shocked with the accident. We are in the process of recording their statements. Its still not clear whether there was some technical fault too. A team of RTO will inspecto the vehilce and give us their opinion,” said a police officer. The XUV was removed from the road and has been parked at one corner of the road.
