New Zealand authorities partially evacuated Queenstown airport in Frankton after authorities received a message about a bomb being present in an airplane. According to RT news, a ‘message’ containing details about an explosive device on a plane was found by an airport cleaner.
The note was reportedly found on Qantas QF121 which had flown down from Sydney. Reports from New Zealand Herald suggest that a police spokesperson has confirmed that a bomb scare message had been found on the aircraft. Two flights were cancelled because of the bomb scare as per the Queenstown airport website.
After two hours of search operations, that covered the aircraft, terminal building and baggage, the New Zealand Police issued a statement saying that no bomb was found. They also informed that the airport would resume normal operations. They will, however, continue to investigate the incident.
