2 youth drown in Mahi river, one in Panchmahal

Two persons drowned in the Mahi river near Angadh village on Saturday afternoon.The youths were trying to cross the river in a boat when the boat capsized.

Vadodara: Two persons drowned in the Mahi river near Angadh village on Saturday afternoon. The youths were trying to cross the river in a boat when the boat capsized.
According to sources in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) fire brigade, the youths Arpan Prajapati from Vasad and Virendra Padhiyar from Rampara, had boarded a fishing boat from Angadh to go to Kahanwadi across the river.
Four fishermen were also present in the boat.
As the boat started drowning, boatmen, who were expert swimmers, managed to save their lives, but could not help the victims. Others on the bank of the river tried to rush to the help of the youths, but could not save them.
Fire brigade officials fished out one of the bodies while the other was found by fishermen in the area.
Meanwhile, in Panchmahal, a youth drowned in a pond in the Karada village on Kalol taluka Saturday late afternoon.
The victim Arvind Gohil, a resident of Khadki village, had gone to the pond with four other friends to take a bath. He started drowning in the pond and locales rushed to help him, but failed. The body was fished out by Kalol fire brigade.
