Nashik: The downpour that started around 2pm on Saturday continued until the evening hours, with 6mm of rainfall recorded in the city by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Light rains were reported in various parts of the city and the outskirts. Neighbouring talukas of Malegaon, Niphad, Trimbakeshwar and Igatpuri too received showers through the day.
The district received 30mm rainfall on Friday.
The city recorded the maximum temperature of 27.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday, a rise of two degrees as compared to 25.7 degrees Celsius registered the previous day. The minimum temperature too saw an increase of almost a degree from 21.4 degrees Celsius recorded on Friday to 22.1 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Relative humidity rose from 90% in the morning to 95% by evening. The skies remained cloudy throughout the day.
The weather department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in isolated parts of the district for the next 72 hours. A weather official from IMD, Pune said, "An off-shore trough from south Kerala coast to Gujarat persists and intermittent spells of rains are expected during the next 48 hours," adding that upper cyclonic circulation formed over Chattisgarh and Vidarbha led to the downpour.
