Ludhiana: The Punjab government would develop a plastic park on 60 acres near its prestigious cycle valley project in Dhanansu, said principle secretary, industries, Anirudh Tewari, who visited the site of cycle valley on Friday along with managing director, Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC), Amit Dhaka.
The plastic park will be made as a hub for manufacturing of plastic components especially for the bicycle industry.
According to Tewari, this project will have all the modern facilities along with high-class infrastructure.
Meanwhile, city industrialists have expressed their happiness over sanctioning of the plastic park in Ludhiana.
Speaking to TOI, Charanjeet Vishivkarma, president of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), said, "It is a good news for the Ludhiana industry especially for the ailing plastic component manufacturers. The park will not only help create a common cluster of plastic product manufacturers, but will also create a world-class infrastructure for the city. It is our suggestion to the government that the rate of plots should be kept nominal so that small industrialists can afford to purchase the same."
Narinder Bhamra, president of Fasteners Manufacturers Association of India, said, "I think this project will be in the interest of local industry only if the micro and small units are given land on a priority, especially those which are located in mixed land use (MLU) areas.
