Ramgarh: Gyan Mahila Samiti, a women's outfit operating in Ramgarh, promised an umbrella to each woman who plants five saplings under the 'green drive' initiated by the forest, environment and climate change department at a meet to reach out to women about environment conservation.
A statewide green drive was announced by chief minister Raghubar Das from Jainagar panchayat under Patratu block of Ramgarh district recently.

The women at the meet were told about the green drive and urged to plant saplings in their localities.
Binod Jaisawal, president of Gyan Mahila Samiti, said the incentive of an umbrella would encourage women to play a bigger and more active role in the drive.
Sangita Devi of Gyan Mahila Sammiti said several women have shown an interest in the initiative and have already started planting saplings.
KK Tripathi, divisional forest officer, praised the programme and its contribution to the state government's initiative. The forest, environment and climate change department has set a targte of 75,000 saplings in the district, a forest department official said.
