Chandigarh: Days after the gang rape of a Dalit college girl twice by the same five accused at Rohtak within three years, Haryana police have initiated a process for DNA test of the alleged offenders. Sources in the police department said the samples for the test had been procured. The police may also soon approach the court for a narco-analysis test of the accused.
Three out of the five accused have been arrested and are on police remand. They will be produced before a magistrate at Rohtak on Sunday.
On the other hand, residents from villages of the accused, and their relatives, staged protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on Saturday, alleging that "police arrested the three under political pressure, and because of media trial, ignored all evidences. When the accused had themselves appeared before investigators to help in the probe, what was the need for their arrest," said Raju Panghal, a relative of Jagmohan, who is one of the accused. "We have offered to face any test, including DNA and narco-analysis of the accused," he said.
