TIRUNELVELI: A full day after the tragic disappearance of the IAF’s AN-32 aircraft that was on a routine courier flight from Tambaram air force base near Chennai to Port Blair, the aged mother of a Indian Coast Guard (ICG) personnel, R. Muthukrishnan who was part of the personnel on board the ill-fated aircraft, has not been informed about the incident “in view of her poor health situation”.
Muthukrishnan (40), the ICG personnel, transferred to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in April this year was on board along with 28 others in the IAF flight that went missing on Friday.
He had joined ICG in 1997 and is the sixth child of his parents—late Ramasubbu and Pandarathi of Shemboor village in Tirunelveli district. Having three of his elder brothers—Murugan, Dharmar and Marimuthu working in the police department, Muthukrishnan’s second brother—Nainar is in ICG in Kochi. “Muthu was guided by Nainar to join the Indian coast guard,” said Dharmar, who is a
constable at the Eral police station in Thoothukudi district.
Two more of Muthukrishnan’s brothers—Jayakumar and Rajini at Alwarthirunagari are in real estate business. Three of his sisters are married, said his family sources.
Muthukrishnan, married to Jeyasumithra has two sons—Rahul (6) and Anbusezhiyan (4) and had just started building a house at his native village, added his brother Dharmar, who wanted the Central government to act swiftly to find the missing flight.
Dharmar, however, did not allow the media persons, who thronged Shemboor village on information that a son of the soil too was also onboard the missing aircraft, to see his 82-year-old mother, who is still unaware of her son’s fate.
“She being a heart patient and physically feeble, we have decided not to inform her the situation immediately,” added Dharmar, whose eldest brother, Murugan, a special sub-inspector of police at Arumuganeri station, along with his another brother Jeyakumar, rushed to Chennai on information received from ICG on Friday night.
