Three of a family die in accident on highway

Three members of a family, including a six-year-old girl, died on the spot, when a school bus mowed them down at Yendada Junction, here on Saturday afternoon.

The minibus belonging to a private school was going from Madhurawada to Visakhapatnam carrying six teachers, when at Yendada Junction to avoid hitting a motorcyclist, the driver swerved to the right and hit a motorcyclist who was coming from Visakhapatnam to Madhurawada, on the other side of the National Highway. The bus came to halt after ramming a Mahindra Scorpio jeep.

Three persons on the motorcycle died on the spot and two persons in the jeep suffered minor injuries.

The deceased were identified as six-year-old Varshini, her father Kishore Kumar (36) and grandmother Revathi (55).

According to Arilova Circle Inspector Tirupati Rao, the deceased Kishore Kumar, resident of Marikavalasa and employee of Care Hospital, was returning home after consulting a doctor for his daughter and mother.

The inspector told The Hindu , that the bus was apparently going at high speed when the accident occurred

and the driver was not able control it after avoiding hitting the biker. A case has been booked and police arrested the bus driver.
