As part of a concerted effort to promote the Rushikonda IT area as an ideal information technology investment zone, the information technology units in the Rushikonda IT Park, members of the Madhurawada Area Notified Municipal IT Park Industrial Services Society, launched a campaign to brand the area as ‘The Digital Valley’.
A website thedigitalvalley.in was launched here at the general body meeting of the society organised to mark its first annual day.
“As stakeholders even we have to actively participate in the promotion of the area and help develop an ecosystem that is conducive to incubate IT sector in the region,” society vice chairman Murali Bulusu told The Hindu .
“The government has been very proactive and supportive of the industry. They have been taking cognisance of the grievances and trying to redress them speedily. For instance the bus shuttle service for employees,” society secretary Prasad Lokum said. The long pending issue of denotification has begun and already Hill 3 is completed Hill 2 is in the process, he said.
There is a need for promoting collaboration among the units and taking promotion of Visakhapatnam as an IT destination to the next level, he said.
Most of the Fortune listed corporates have drawn up plans for their Digital Transformation and the biggest challenge is getting skilled manpower in this emerging domain.
Visakhapatnam and the State could position itself as a solution provider and an online platform for training in these technologies is being launched next month. The aim is to create 1,00,000 trained Digital Transformation Professionals, Mr Prasad told The Hindu .
Collector N Yuvaraj who launched the website at the meeting appreciated the efforts of the IT units to come together as a body for promoting the area. The growth of IT sector had been hampered due to many constraints in the past but today everyone in the government from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu down is keen on promoting the industry, he said. Maheswar Reddy, who has worked in the city and is aware of the issues involved in the city has been appointed additional executive director APIIC and he would be able to address grievances better, he added.
CEO AP Electronics and IT Agency Srinivasa Murthy, Regional Director Telangana and Andhra Pradesh of NASSCOM Srikanth Srinivasan, Additional ED APIIC Maheswar Reddy, Principal AU Engineering College PS Avadhani, Pro Vice Chancellor GITAM University Sivaramakrishna and representatives of IT units were present.
