Couple held for luring youths with job offers

DEHRADUN: The city police arrested three fraudsters, including a couple, for allegedly luring unemployed youths for providing jobs in ONGC here yesterday.

The city police arrested three fraudsters, including a couple, for allegedly luring unemployed youths for providing jobs in ONGC here yesterday. SSP Sadanand Datte, while briefing about the case, said Sumit Shahi, a resident of Thakurpur alleged in his complaint that he was duped of Rs 2.5 lakh in lieu of providing a job in ONGC. The complainant named Dheeraj Ahuja, his wife Jyoti Ahuja, and another accomplice Lalit Kohli in his complaint.

Shahi said when he demanded the money, the accused threatened him with dire consequences. SSP Datte said a team was formed to investigate the matter. The investigation revealed that fraudsters had duped many unemployed youths of Rs 14 lakh in the past. Datte said a police team led by SHO Cantt police station Ravi Kumar raided at their house and arrested them. A case has been registered.
