No celebrity guest for Global Tiger Day
Nagpur: It seems there won’t be a celebrity chief guest at the Global Tiger Day function which is to be held in the city on July 29.
As reported by TOI earlier, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who is also tiger ambassador of Maharashtra, was expected to grace the function. On Friday, state forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar also had a meeting with the superstar at his residence.
However, Bachchan has been invited as chief guest for Tadoba Mahotsav which will be held in Mumbai from November 11-13. As such he won’t attend the July 29 function.
Mungantiwar told TOI that the actor is also expected to come to city for the Green Army programme. “We are planning to organize a large-scale event in October at Nagpur. We discussed the Green Army project with Bachchan and are hopeful that he will come for the event,” the forest minister said.
The prominent guests for the Global Tiger Day function will be state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union minister for road and surface transport Nitin Gadkari and state forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
