Lucknow: Miniature scientific models developed by young minds promising solutions for effective disaster management, producing electricity through coal ash and modern wheels for tractors to save time and fuel of farmers drew chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's appreciation.
Young scientist award was given to four students for their innovative ideas by the CM at his residence on Saturday.
With a view to taking science and technology to rural areas, student of BNSD Shiksha Niketan Siddhartha Gupta presented his scientific innovation of a modern tractor for farmers. "In traditional tractors, six blade cultivators are attached for tilling the soil while in my prototype model I have used hydraulic tires in the tractor with 18 blades that will save the farmer's time and fuel," said Siddhartha.
Another young scientist who received an award on the occasion lamented how the Uttarakhand disaster claimed so many lives. "I have designed a water level indicator with alarm clock for dams to alert about disasters like Uttarakhand," said Suryank. Dikshit.
Five young scientists were to be awarded but due to an error in the award list the name of three-and-half-year-old Ayushman Bajpayee was cancelled at last moment. According to the officials of the Uttar Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Anshuman didn't fit in the criterion for the award and his name was in the list by mistake.
During the award ceremony, CM launched 'Hello young scientist' app for promoting interest of students in science. The android based application will help students gain knowledge of science and get innovative ideas for scientific inventions.
