Virat Kohli's dream run with the bat continued as he scored his maiden Test double century (200) to help India pile on a mammoth 566 for eight against West Indies on day two of the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium in North Sound. Ravichandran Ashwin also got amongst the runs, registering his third Test century (113) against the lacklustre West Indian bowling attack. Records were eclipsed one after the other as Kohli and Ashwin made merry.

+ The fifth double century by an Indian captain after MAK Pataudi (203*), Sunil Gavaskar (205), Sachin Tendulkar (217) and MS Dhoni (224).

+ The highest by an Indian skipper away from home, eclipsing 192 by Mohammad Azharuddin against New Zealand in Auckland in 1990.

+ His highest score in first-class cricket. His previous best was 197 for Delhi against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in Delhi in 2008. His highest in Test cricket before this knock was 169 against Australia at the MCG in 2014.

+ The highest in the first innings as captain in West Indies, surpassing Ricky Ponting's 158 in Kingston in 2008.

+ The highest by a player in Tests in North Sound, eclipsing 150 by Chris Gayle against New Zealand in 2012.

+ The second highest by an Indian captain against West Indies after Sunil Gavaskar's 205 in Mumbai in 1978. The previous highest by an Indian captain in West Indies was 146 by Rahul Dravid in St. Lucia in 2006.

+ The third double hundred by a visiting captain in West Indies, after 205 by Len Hutton in Kingston in 1954 and 201 by Bob Simpson in Bridgetown in 1965.

+ Fifth double century for India in West Indies after Dilip Sardesai (212), Sunil Gavaskar (220), Navjot Singh Sidhu (201) and Wasim Jaffer (212).

+ The first double hundred for India outside the sub-continent since Wasim Jaffer's 212 in St. John's in 2006.

+ The highest for Kohli in any format for India. His previous highest was 183 against Pakistan in an ODI in Dhaka.

4 Ravichandran Ashwin is the fourth Indian to score a hundred in his maiden Test innings in West Indies, after Polly Umrigar (130, Port of Spain, 1953), Brijesh Patel (115*, Port of Spain, 1976) and Sanjay Manjrekar (108, Bridgetown, 1989).

168 run partnership between Kohli and Ashwin is the third highest for the fifth wicket for India in West Indies. The two higher stands are 204 between Gavaskar & Patel in Port of Spain in 1976 and 179 between Dravid & Mohammad Kaif in St. Lucia in 2006.

40 runs scored by Wriddhiman Saha is the third-highest by an Indian wicketkeeper in his first innings in West Indies, after 78 by Nayan Mongia in Kingston in 1997 and 43 by Vijay Manjrekar in Kingston in 1953.

2 Shane Dowrich becomes the second wicketkeeper for West Indies to register his first dismissal as a stumping after Ivan Barrow (in 1930).

113 by Ashwin is his third Test century, all three coming against West Indies. It is his second-highest score in first-class cricket, after the 124 against the same opposition in Kolkata in 2013.
