Japanese delegate rolls out Sakura Science Plan
CHANDIGARH: Dr Yuji Nishikawa, India liaison representative, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) visited PEC University of Technology on Friday. Dr Nishikawa delivered a presentation about the programmes of JST and particularly about the Sakura Science Plan (SSP). The engineering students at the undergraduate and post-graduate level including young faculty at PEC below the age of 40 will work in collaboration for the project.
He presented the progress report of JST for faculty and students and emphasized on many schemes initiated by govt.
of Japan for joint programs in research with the researchers, universities, and private companies in India. He also discussed about the projects like SATREPS, SICP, SAKURA and SICORP which are being worked upon in collaboration of Indian and Japanese researchers and industries. He mentioned about the interaction of Govt. of Japan with Indian funding agencies like DST, MHRD, etc. Moreover, an interactive session was held where faculty. A visit to the centre of excellence in industrial design was also organized.
The dean research Dr Satsangi welcomed Dr Nishikawa and Dr Vasundhara Singh, head Applied Sciences, elaborated on the contributions of the PEC alumni in promoting research and startups in PEC. It was also informed that PEC was looking forward to have student and faculty exchange with Japan in areas of IT, materials and manufacturing.
