A trooper was killed and another injured after a gunfight raged between infiltrators and army at Farkian sector along Line of Control in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. Official sources said the gunfight broke out at Googledar in Farkian sector between 3-4 infiltrators an army trooper of 1/3GR late last night at around 11:30 pm. The gunfight continued till 12:15 am in which two soldiers sustained bullet injuries.Sources identified the injured as Hawaldar Anok Thapa and Hawaldar Kamal Pardana and both were removed to 92 Base Hospital at BB Cantonment in Srinagar this morning. However, Hawaldar Anok Thapa was declared brought dead due to excessive blood loss.Sources said that the infiltrators might have sneaked into this side of the fence but a massive search operation has been started in Farkian sector to track them. Meanwhile, the army has also launched a massive search operation at Kanjalawan in Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district of reports of presence of militants.(GNS)
