Cristiano Ronaldo never fails to amaze. Ronaldo is one of the richest athletes in the world who now wants to try his luck in the Hotel Business. Yes, that is correct. The news around the Portugese ace doesn’t stop there. He will also have an airport named after him.
After Portugal found glory in the recently concluded Euro Cup in France, the Real Madrid Star was seen spending a busy afternoon on Friday. According to the AFP reports, the ace striker inaugarated a hotel “CR7”, named after his initials and shirt number, on his native island of Madeira. He already has a bronze statue in Madeira’s capital city of Funchal. Now the main airport on the island will be named after “Cristiano Ronaldo”. The president of the Madeira region, Miguel Albuquerque, said that the airport would named to honour their favourite star.
“It’s a little strange. I never could have imagined that I would be a hotelier at the age of 31,” said Ronaldo, who stood on the rooftop of his hotel wearing a basketball cap. His hotel opened for business on July 1, 2016.
The legendary striker also has a museum built on the ground floor of his hotel. According to the sources, another “CR7” hotel is being planned for the year-end inauguration in Lisbon. Two other hotels will open in Madrid and New York in 2017.

Ronaldo might have missed an on-field opportunity to lead his team to victory in the finals of Euro, but he did his part playing the role of a manager off-field. Fans were in shock when he was stretchered off the field after a bitter challenge with France’s Dimitri Payet. The challenge took a toll on his knee and might keep him out of action for a while. Till then, the “hotelier” Ronaldo has something to keep him busy.
