Virat Kohli made history by scoring his maiden test double century as India played its their way into a virtually unbeatable position on the second day of the first test against West Indies on Friday.

Captain Kohli became the first Indian to post a test double century overseas, scoring 200 out of 566 for eight declared.

Kohli shared a 168-run stand for the fifth wicket with Ravichandran Ashwin (113) who was dropped on 43 by keeper Shane Dowrich and made the West Indies pay by compiling a century.
