— -- Three hundred firefighters are battling a 3,327-acre brush fire in Santa Clarita, California, that has forced the mandatory evacuation of 200-300 homes, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said early Saturday morning.

No serious damage to people or property was reported yet. One minor firefighter injury was reported.

Firefighters fought the fast-spreading blaze -- which was fueled by dry conditions and 20 mph gusts -- with air tankers and helicopters dropping water.

Plumes of smoke were visible several miles away from the blaze, and the sky turned a golden-pinkish color during sunset.

About 200 to 300 homes in the Little Tujunga area were under mandatory evacuations, and The Red Cross opened an evacuation shelter in Santa Clarita for displaced residents.
