Gorakhpur: Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav along with Governor Ram Naik and minister Brahma Shankar Tripathi reached Gorakhpur Airport to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Friday.
While interacting with media, the CM said, "The state government provided the land for AIIMS at two places in Gorakhpur. The land is expensive but we provided it for free.
It is up to the people of the state to decide who deserves credit for AIIMS."
After reaching the airport, PM Modi went to Gorakhnath temple and addressed the sant sabha after unveiling the statue of Brahammleen Mahant Avaidyanath in the temple premises amid chant of Vedic mantras.
"I had cordial relations with Mahant Avaidyanath from a long time. I knew him from before I joined politics. All his life he worked for the betterment of people and now Mahant Yogi Adityanath is taking the tradition forward. The contribution of the sant community can't be denied. Many saints are working for the poor while others are working for cleanliness campaign. Many saints are also involved in building toilets."
