Koraput collector refutes reports of dress code

Koraput: Koraput district collector Jaya Kumar V on Friday refuted reports of his ssuing a dress code for his staff and the public visiting his office.
"The dress code poster, which was circulated in the social media and created misunderstanding, is the handiwork of some mischief mongers," the collector told TOI.
A computer printout urging the government staff and public to wear conventional dress and not jeans and T-shirts while meeting the collector was circulated in the social media and certain media houses had carried it in their newspapers and news channels.

"An inquiry will be made as from where the poster surfaced and necessary action will be taken," he added.
The collector said he had never insisted any dress code to people who visited him at his office.
"Had I have imposed the dress code there would have been some complaint against me either from the staff or the public. But, there is no complaint as no dress code ever exists," Kumar said.
Through the poster, the visitors were asked to either switch off their mobile phones or to keep it on silent mode while meeting the collector.
While the direction on use of mobile phone was well accepted by public, the alleged dress code stirred up a hornets' nest and the administration was criticised by various quarters.
