Steph Burley had to wait a while for her first winner as driver but it took her only about a half-hour for a second as she notched a winning double at Bathurst on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old Kiwi won behind her mum and dad's filly Our Emancipation before scoring on Oh I Am The One in the next race. The pair were part of four winners for Steve Turnbull on the night.

It took 27 drives for Burley to get her first winner and it was fitting it came from Our Emancipation.

"I helped break her in at home before I came over here," Burley said. "She has been with me for a while and followed me around. It was great to win for mum and dad.

"It has been frustrating because I had run a lot of placings and just couldn't win. I drove her at Menangle and she went really well to run fourth when she was out-graded and it was the right race.

"I didn't think I would get another one straight away."

Burley grew up in New Zealand in a harness racing family and has spent time with the Dean Taylor and Darren Hancock stables before moving to Bathurst.

She is studying accountancy by correspondence, while working at the Turnbulls and Our Emancipation is her project.

"I try to do the work on her. She is a nice little filly," Burley said.

The four winners for Turnbull on Wednesday night took him back to the top of the state trainers' premiership with 139 wins, one in front of Belinda McCarthy, as the season enters its final month.

The metropolitan drivers' title is going to be a battle of the brothers with Todd and Luke McCarthy separated by one win.
