Plaint filed over illegal mining in Tapi riverbed

Surat: Geology department on Friday registered a complaint at Lalgate police station against project manager, transporter and operators of a Bangalore-based company for making fake royalty passes for mining of black trap rubble from Tapi riverbed here on Friday.
Geology department claimed it has recovered 172 fake royalty passes from Shiva Rudrappa Patri, a staffer of Yajaka India Private Limited, who lives near LP Savani Road in the city.The company has caused the state government a loss of Rs71,375 at the rate of Rs25 per MT by carrying out illegal mining and ferrying of 2,855 MT of the black trap rubble from the riverbed. tnn
