SBI, IRCTC in pact for selling railway tickets through ‘Buddy’

State Bank of India has partnered with IRCTC and Aditya Birla Group to start digital booking of railway tickets through its payment application, State Bank Buddy. Customers will also be able to make digital payment for things bought from stores of the Madura Fashion and the Lifestyle division of Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail. Users of the bank’s Multi Option Payment System – more than 2,500 educational institutions around the country and various government entities – will now find Buddy as an option to make fee payments. SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya, who was present at the launch, said  Buddy already has more than 3.5 million registered users. The bank is now developing another payment platform focused on users of feature phones and will launch it in a few months, she said.
