Pandurang Dindi, a procession that represents the trek taken by devotees to the Pandharpur Vitthal temple from various States, was taken out in Bidar on Wednesday.
Devotees walked from the Pandurang temple in the old city, through Siddique Taleem, Shah Gunj Kaman, Multani Pasha Darga Kaman, Bhavani temple, Gawan Chowk and Choubarah and returned to the point where they started the trek.
Youngsters could be seen carrying two 40ft flagpoles at the beginning and end of the procession. They climbed over each other to break two pots of curd and milk hung at the Pandurang temple and at Shah Gunj Kaman.
Several Bhajana Mandalis sang and danced all along the route. Bhajana Mandalis of various communities and caste groups from villages around Bidar took part in the event.
Renowned classical singer Jagannath Nankeri sang devotional songs and Abhangas. Tatvapada singer Jagannath Maharaj danced to the tunes of Varkari songs. Volunteers carried palanquins and distributed sweets and coconuts to visitors. Folk dances such as Chakri Bhajan were organised at the temple premises at night.
Members of the temple committee and other leaders were present.
Another Dindi procession was taken out at the Shamaraj Pur Agrahara at Odavadi in Bidar taluk.
