: A Kenyan woman who was allegedly confined by fellow Africans at a house in Mehrauli’s Rajpur Khurd village was rescued by the South District police on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Gladys Wambui Mwangi.

The accused persons include Alice Njoki and Classidy Jeremiah. While Alice has been arrested, the other accused managed to run away during the raid.

“We acted on a complaint lodged at the Mehrauli police station by Frederick Ndegwa, political counsellor from the Kenya Embassy, on the intervening night of July 17 and July 18,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police -I (South) Nupur Prasad.

The police said Gladys was brought to India on the promise of a secretary’s job in China. Later, her passport was snatched away and she was forced to join illegal activities by the accused duo.
