Amber Rose is, somewhat surprisingly, taking her ex Kanye West’s side in the Taylor Swift vs. Kimye scandal that swept the Internet this week.
In a clip from the upcoming episode of The Amber Rose Show — premiering Friday night (July 22) at 11 p.m. ET on VH1 — Rose recalls the start of the ongoing West/Swift feud in 2009 at the MTV Video Music Awards. Rose — who was dating West at the time — recalled Kanye’s remorse after the incident.
“I was next to him at the VMAs that year. I remember the repercussions after that,” Rose says. “He was so remorseful. I mean he really felt so bad, because it wasn’t about Taylor. It was about Beyoncé and her video.”
West faced negative backlash for the incident, including Lady Gaga canceling their co-headlining Fame Kills Tour. Swift and West later publicly reconciled until the release of West’s TLOP single “Famous” earlier this year. Lyrics from the single re-sparked the feud, as Swift was unhappy with the lyrics “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous.”

“He really went through a lot of bullsh–, and I know that Kanye would never, ever go through that again by not calling Taylor and saying ‘Heads up, I’m about to kind of go write this verse real quick, just want to make sure you’re cool with it.’”
