Deshpande, Hoysala fire KSCA Colts

Aamir Gani and Writtick Chatterjee picked up two wickets for the visitors.

Bengaluru: Fifties from skipper Pavan Deshpande and Arjun Hoysala guided KSCA Colts to 260 for 5 against Cricket Association of Bengal on the opening day of the KSCA Dr. (Capt.) K Thimmappiah Memorial four-day cricket tournament here on Friday.

Electing to bat at the Alur 2 grounds, Colts were off to a decent start with openers Hoysala (64, 107b, 8x4) and youngster Nikin Jose (33) adding 87 runs for the opening wicket.

After a top-order collapse, left-handed Deshpande (68, 90b, 10x4) and ’keeper-batsman Chiranjeevi GS (40 batting) stitched a crucial 60-run stand for the fifth wicket to put the hosts in a comfortable position at close of play. Aamir Gani and Writtick Chatterjee picked up two wickets for the visitors.
