BJP leader leads awareness rally on drug abuse

AMRITSAR: The Rani Jhansi Society, headed by veteran BJP leader and Former Punjab Health Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla, carried out an awareness rally at drug-infested Anngarh area here today.

The Rani Jhansi Society, headed by veteran BJP leader and Former Punjab Health Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla, carried out an awareness rally at drug-infested Anngarh area here today.

The society had launched a drive against drug abuse in the area during which it had opened a stitching centre in the area to train women folk and make them independent. During the programme, it had also organised various street plays to educate the youth and people of the area about the ill effects of drug abuse.

Today, the society, along with the women who got trained at the stitching centre, carried out a march in the area urging the youth to shun drugs and join the streamline. They raised slogans against drug abuse. Chawla said in order to eradicate the menace, all sections of society had to contribute and make efforts. — TNS
