Man alleges threats by cops

A local resident, Pardeep, who got ASI Ram Mehar arrested by the State Vigilance Bureau last week, alleged today that he was being threatened by Civil Lines SHO Ram Phal Goyat and other police personnel to withdraw his charges against the ASI or be ready to face implication in a case. Pardeep said some plainclothesmen visited him at night and allegedly threatened him. He said he was summoned to the police station on July 16 where Goyat abused him. —OC
