NAVI MUMBAI: A day after the alleged suicide of a 17-year-old girl, Pushpa Suryavanshi, who hanged herself at her
Kalamboli home, the police on Friday registered an FIR against the
principal of the
college to which the girl had sought
admission.
The girl had scored 81.4% while the cut-off was 87.4%, but she wanted admission to this college. The girl, who the police said, had paid Rs20,000 to seek admission to Sudhagadh Secondary & Higher Education School, Kalamboli.
However, the admission granted offline to the college of her choice was cancelled.
The principal, Iqbal Inamdar (55), a Kalamboli resident, has been charged for abetment of suicide and for cheating.
On Friday, minister Vinod Tawde announced that the department would look into the suicide case and take action against the college authorities.
A police source said that the principal accepted Rs 20,000 for her offline admission despite knowing that offline admission was banned as per court orders.
