Irrigation to ink deal with ISRO on Aug 6: Harish

Irrigation Department will enter into a deal with National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) of ISRO to build up Telangana Water Resources Information System (TWRIS) for satellite imaging of projects, reservoirs, dams, barrages, canals, lakes, water bodies and other water resources in the state on Aug 6.

This was stated by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao here during a meeting with NRSC officials at Secretariat here. The NRSC will extend its support to irrigation wing to get all information of water resources in the palm. The minister urged the ISRO to offer training to engineering staff and asked the officials to make ample use of NRSC satellite imaging once in two weeks and update the details pertaining to water resources and availability in projects, reservoirs and lakes. ISRO Scientific Advisor Dr PG Diwakar said that Telangana is a first state to get satellite imaging of irrigation projects, reservoiors, dams, barrages and lakes. The government will get into a deal with ISRO Chairman Kiran Kumar on Aug 6 Harish said and appealed to the officials to give a report on works of Mission Kakatiya first phase, before and after and that of lakes overflowing due to heavy rains in Adilabad and Khammam districts. (NSS)
