Gorakhpur: In the poll-bound state of UP, where BJP now has the biggest stake being the government at the Centre, union ministers accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi made bids to present a picture of BJP government at Centre gradually taking the state on the path of development.
They presented themselves as brand ambassadors of Modi's development agenda for Uttar Pradesh, around six to seven months ahead of UP assembly elections 2017.

Addressing the gathering on Fertilizer campus, Union health minister JP Nadda presented figures to sum up UP's development story at the hands of Centre. He, however, didn't fail to hit out at the Akhilesh government for being unable to spent Rs 850 crore granted for the health related schemes.
Nadda said that Centre has approved five medical colleges at a cost of Rs 179 crore each in Faizabad, Basti, Ferozabad, Bahraich etc. Added to it, he said, BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur would get additional Rs 120 crore for the superspeciality block. Similarly, "funds were being given for the upgradation of Jhansi and other medical colleges."
He said that Rs 120-crore new building at SGPGI, Lucknow is almost ready for handing over.
Chemical and petroleum minister Ananth Kumar also said that the production of urea from the fertilizer plant that will come up in purvi, Uttar Pradesh would pave way for 3,000 job openings.
Earlier, energy minister Peeyush Goyal, also focussing on UP's development agenda, said that in the last two years, over 1300 villages have been electrified.
Modi later said, though he had set the target of electrification of all 18,500 villages for 1000 days, but in 340 days, only 175 villages in UP are left for electrification.
"Yeh Modi hai seedhiyaan bhi daud kar chadhta hai," he said. Just like Centre, UP also needs a daudne waali sarkar," the Prime Minister said.
