olice have arrested suspected motorcycle thieves in Bekasi, West Java, who allegedly used a woman to lure their victims through social media.
Bekasi Police caught the five alleged robbers in a rented room in South Cikarang. One of the group is a young woman, identified only as N, 18, whose role was that of a “honey trap”.
“The perpetrators looked for their victims through social media,” said Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Awal Chairudin as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday. “N built up intense communication with her victim on Blackberry Messenger and invited him for a date.”
N met the victim, identified only as ASM, 20, on Jl. Raya Daha, Lippo Cikarang, South Cikarang. However, she was accompanied by the rest of the gang, who immediately beat the victim using a belt and a helmet. They also threatened him with a replica pistol. The perpetrators then fled with ASM’s motorcycle.
