Fans from Bengaluru travel to Chennai to watch Kabali
The phenomenon that he is, a lot of people from the city are keen to catch the AirAsia special flight to Chennai on July 22 just to watch Kabali, Rajinikanth's much-awaited movie, which releases this weekend. PR Subrahmanyam is one of them. "Going to Chennai and watching a 'Thalaivar' movie on the release day is a lifetime opportunity; it will be a dream come true for me," he says.
Subrahmanyam and his daughter PS Sharadhambha, who is a civil service aspirant, are all excited about the trip.

"Rajinikanth is the greatest superstar the country has seen. He has overtaken the likes of Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand," he says. "He showed what a normal everyday man can achieve, going on from a bus conductor to become one of the greatest stars Indian cinema has seen," gushes Subrahmanyam who has been a Rajani fan since he watched the 1977 Tamil movie '16 Vayathinile'.
Talking about the special flight arrangements, he says this is the first time in India that such a thing has been arranged, though similar preparations were made for the movie 'Hobbit' elsewhere.
"According to the plan, we will leave for Chennai on the 22nd morning, reach there by 9am, watch the movie, a nd return by the 3.00pm flight. The package that includes flight tickets, the movie ticket, our food, an audio CD and a promotional T-shirt costs Rs 7,860," he says.
Though he is travelling all the way to Chennai to watch the movie, Subrahmanyam says that Bengaluru will see a phenomenal opening for the movie. "The movie will be opened in more than six hundred centres in Bengaluru alone. Those theatres that opened online booking last Sunday have already sold out most of their tickets. With a ticket being priced around Rs 500, the opening day collection from the city is going to be quite huge," he says.
He expects nothing less than this from the superstar whom he calls the star of the millennium. "He has acted with almost all big stars of the time, be it Amitabh Bachchan, NT Rama Rao or Shivaji Ganeshan," he adds.
