Tearful teen charged over death of mum-of-three in scrambler bike tragedy

The mother-of-three, from Poleglass, Belfast, died on Wednesday after she was hit by a scrambler bike while out walking her dog in Colin Glen Forest Park.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, received a second charge of driving without insurance at Belfast Magistrates Court.

Asked by district judge Neil Rafferty if he understood the charges, the tearful teenager nodded.

While standing outside the dock in a grey polo shirt and black trousers, he could be seen struggling as the charges were read.

When asked for his age the teenager replied he would be 18 next month.

The court heard that the teenager had waited with the woman at the scene of the crash in Colin Glen Forest Park until the ambulance arrived.

A Detective Constable told the court he had also been extremely remorseful in custody.

Charges have been remanded until August 18, where the youth will appear by video link from Hydebank prison where he will remain in custody.

As he was led from the court the boy's mother called out to him.
