The literal ‘rough patch’ continues for Mumbaikars as well as BMC this monsoon, as residents of a housing society in Andheri (West) have come up with complaints of inconvenience caused by dug-up roads.

Ever since an ambulance struggled to reach a housing society inside Sagar City Complex on Wednesday, residents have been plagued by worries of a greater peril. While BMC claims the digging activity is crucial to repair a drainage pipeline, over 4,500 residents are getting affected due to it.
No escape
Andalib Sultanpuri, a Pacific Society resident, said, “On Wednesday, a dead body had to be shouldered till the house because the ambulance carrying it couldn’t enter the Complex — the very entrance to Sagar City has been dug up. Instead of 5 minutes, traversing this stretch is taking up 30 minutes every day.”
Another resident, Tanaz Patrawala of Indian Ocean Society, informed, “There’s a road behind the Complex, but it’s too narrow for a vehicle to pass through.”
Sagar City Welfare Association vice-president, Riyaz Elias said they have already reached out to BMC, but haven’t received any response yet.
“The situation is particularly grave because in case of an untoward incident (which is possible during monsoon), no rescue effort will be able to reach us.”
