Army Public School, Golconda, collects about 700 kg of dry waste torecycle it

Students and staff members of Army Public School, Golconda, took part in a campaign from July 11 to 13 for recycling dry waste material. The students were asked to bring used notebooks, old newspapers and other dry waste material. The waste was promised to be exchanged with new notebooks and other stationeries.

The students participated with great enthusiasm. The campaign collected more than 700 kg of dry waste material from the students and those who deposited more than 5.5 kg of dry waste were given certificates. The objective of the campaign was to encourage people to recycle dry waste instead of littering their surroundings.

Exhibition

St. Peter’s International Residential School, Hyderabad, organised an exhibition as part of their International School Award project given by the British Council. Students from grade V to X put up a sassy show on various subjects like national games, national monuments, different kinds of government systems and others.

Along with all the eye-catching exhibits, students staged mime shows and street plays. Chairman of the institution T. Bal Reddy appreciated the students and applauded the teachers for their sheer hard work.

Investiture ceremony

St. Joseph High School, Trimulgherry, conducted investiture ceremony recently. Chief guest Rev. Fr Sagaya Raj inaugurated the programme. School principal Rev.Fr Gabriel conducted the oath ceremony and honoured the new cabinets.

Foundation day

Gitanjali Primary School, Begumpet, celebrated its foundation day, investiture and Proficiency Award ceremony on June 30. Chief guest Sugita Mathur, Uma Karan, chairman, Gitanjali Group of Schools, Gita Karan, director, Gitanjali Group of Schools, Jai Karan, managing director, and Renee Dutta, headmistress graced the occasion.

A short skit was presented by the children. This was followed by the investiture ceremony and giving away of the Proficiency Awards to meritorious students.

Student council members elected

Little Scholar School conducted investiture ceremony on July 16 graced by K. Krishna, Sub-Inspector, Sanathnagar and K. Srikanth, Cronos Global Consulting, USA, who administered the oath to the council. They pledged to discharge their duties with dignity and grace to the best of their ability. Professor P. Purushottam Rao presided over the programme and advised the council to carry forward the values that the school believes in. Principal S.G. Suntha encouraged them to perform their tasks with zeal, enthusiasm and sincerity. On behalf of the newly-elected Prefectural Council, Head Boy B. Shreekar addressed the gathering. Meanwhile, in a drive towards clean and green earth, students planted saplings along with the guests, school correspondent and principal as part of the Haritha Haram programme.

Prefectural body elected

Army Public School, Golconda, conducted investiture ceremony on July 13 and elected the new prefectural body. Today, student leadership is a core value and attribute, and at Army Public School, the student council is one of the many ways this skill is imparted. The oath-taking ceremony was followed by march past of students from classes 6 to 12, led by the school contingent and all the four houses.

Col H.S. Rathore, Deputy Commandant, Artillery Centre, Hyderabad attended as chief guest.

Van Mahotsav celebrated

Van Mahotsav was celebrated at Army Public School, Golconda, on July 8. Activities such as show and tell, clay moulding, best out of waste, petal decoration, pot painting, corner decoration, vegetable carving and face painting were held.

School cabinet elected

In a first, electronic voting was held at Hillside School to elect the Student Council on July 2. The School Cabinet was installed in the presence of chief guest Brigadier Jagjit Singh Ahuja, principal Jayanthi Sridhar, teachers and students. The installation of the School Prefect Board was followed by the oath ceremony administered by the chief guest. Brigadier Jagjit Singh Ahuja said: “A positive attitude should be worn by all the prefect members along with the badge.” School captain Abhishek Patil, in his acceptance speech on behalf of the Council, assured sincerity and honesty in their endeavour to bring laurels to the school. The School Captain led the school in march past.

Welcoming students

A programme was organised by PUC II year students to welcome PUC I year students at Doddapapa Appa Residential Independent PU Science College on July 17. Addressing the students, chief guest Narendra Badasheshi, retd. principal, MSI PU College, Kalaburagi, spoke on the need for inculcating value-based education. Expressing concern, he said today’s students were studying only for the sake of marks which is not the sole purpose of education. B. Ramakrishna Reddy, Head, Dept. Of Zoology, Sharanbasvashwar College of Science, asked the students not to have any fear of being economically poor or having language barrier. He urged them to get utilise all the benefits of Article 371J and be disciplined to succeed in life.

Haritha Haram

A team of twenty Nature Club members of Nasr Boys School, Gachibowli, planted about 176 saplings at Pragati Resorts on July 11. The programme was organised in collaboration with WWF India. The students actively took part in Haritha Haram Programme.

Elections

Nasr Boys School held elections for new Prefectural Body on June 27. The voting booth was set up in the auditorium. Students from class III to X cast their vote while the whole process was monitored by headmaster Renive Thomas and principal Mir Hafeezuddin Ahmed. Faculty members helped in smooth conduct of the elections.

Bank takes part in Haritha Haram

Union Bank of India organised ‘Vana Mahotsava’ at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bidar Air Force Station on July 20.

Shiva Prakash, bank manager, planted saplings and encouraged students to grow more trees and preserve trees in their home as well as the school.

Principal P. Harikrishna Rao, headmaster M. Rajappa, teachers and bank officials were present.
