Members of the Devaraj Urs Social and Educational Service Trust and Backward Class Forum have urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to initiate steps to make the caste census report public at the earliest besides extending the same scientifically to all needy, including economically weaker upper castes.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister at Hosapete on Thursday, they have said that the delay in making the report public and initiating steps to extending reservation benefits the needy communities commensurate to their population, has come as a disappointment.
Y. Yamunesh, forum president, while recalling the assurance given by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to release the outcome at the earliest, urged him to extend the reservation benefits to all the small communities, which have been deprived so far, commensurate to their population, very soon.
He has demanded that budgetary provision should also be made, on par with that of Scheduled Caste and Tribes, besides extending the reservation benefits to some of the economically weaker ‘upper castes’ too. He hoped that Chief Minister would expedite the process of taking a final decision in the matter and ensure a scientific social, educational and political reservation.
Somanna Yadav, U. Ashwathappa, Veerbhadrachar, Shamappa M. Kumarswamy, Nagenahalli Anjinappa were among other office bearers present.
